Terms of use
Last update: June 14, 2025
1. Purpose of the Smartphone Application
The ODevice mobile application allows users to:
Connect and configure electronic devices,
Remotely monitor sensor activity,
View and record data transmitted via wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, LoRa, etc.).
2. Acceptance of Terms
By installing and using the application, the user acknowledges having read, understood, and accepted these Terms of Use without reservation.
3. Access and Availability
The application is available for free on Android and iOS, with optional monthly subscription plans. It requires an Internet connection and the use of compatible devices.
Proper functioning depends on:
the quality of the network connection,
the battery level of the IoT devices,
compliance with battery safety instructions.
4. User Responsibilities
The user agrees to:
Not open, modify, or disassemble the electronic devices,
Not use the application for illegal or hazardous purposes,
Comply with safety instructions provided, especially those regarding lithium-ion batteries,
Install the device in a dry, well-ventilated environment, away from moisture, condensation, and extreme temperatures.
The installation, placement, and use of the devices are entirely the user’s responsibility. The seller cannot be held liable for the consequences of improper installation or use in an unsuitable environment.
The user is solely responsible for interpreting the data.
The user is also solely responsible for the storage, maintenance, and power supply of the product. Any damage resulting from improper storage (moisture, heat, condensation), electrical overload, or deterioration of connection cables shall not engage the seller’s liability.
5. Safety & Lithium-Ion Batteries
The devices managed through the application contain lithium-ion batteries.
It is essential to:
Not expose the devices to extreme temperatures,
Not open or puncture the device casing,
Use only compatible chargers or charging circuits.
In the event of damage, leakage, swelling, or unusual odor, stop using the device immediately.
6. Data Collection
The application may collect certain technical and usage data to improve service quality (e.g., sensor IDs, status, battery voltage, transmission frequency).
No data will be used without the user’s explicit consent.
7. Updates
The developer reserves the right to modify or update the application, the device firmware, and these Terms of Use at any time.
Users will be notified of changes via the application or during an update.
8. Liability
ODevice cannot be held liable in case of:
measurement errors or data misinterpretation,
malfunctioning of sensors or devices due to incorrect installation,
accidents resulting from improper use of the devices (e.g., overload, short circuit, exposure to fire).
9. Intellectual Property Rights
All content within the application (logos, texts, visuals, interfaces) is the exclusive property of the publisher or its partners.
Any reproduction, adaptation, or extraction is prohibited without prior written permission.
10. Measurement Limitations and Disclaimer
The connected devices used with the application are intended to assist in monitoring environmental parameters (such as water flow, water level, etc.) via electronic sensors.
They can transmit alerts, measurements, and statuses, but do not provide exhaustive monitoring or automatic intervention.
Transmitted measurements may be subject to:
sensor errors,
signal variations,
transmission delays or losses,
environmental inaccuracies (temperature, interference, power supply, etc.),
autonomy optimization that comes at the cost of measurement accuracy.
As a result, the application and its devices should be considered monitoring assistance tools and must not be used as certified safety, alert, or control systems.
ODevice disclaims any liability in case of:
failure to detect a critical event or threshold,
failure of the monitored system (e.g., overflow, leakage, breakdown),
direct or indirect damages caused by misinterpretation or absence of alerts or data.
The user understands and accepts that these devices must not be solely relied upon for critical decisions without independent validation.
Legal warranty cannot be claimed in cases of dissatisfaction related to data interpretation or measurement precision, as long as the devices function according to their technical specifications.
It is the user’s responsibility to regularly check the readings and ensure the physical and software maintenance of the monitoring system.
The device’s battery life simulator is provided for guidance only, helping users estimate the impact of configured parameters. This estimation remains approximate due to the complexity of involved calculations and numerous unknown variables (usage conditions, environment, signal quality, etc.).
The simulation is based on the following assumptions: fully charged battery, medium transmission power, and a water flow rate of 8 liters per minute.
This estimate has no contractual value and does not bind the publisher nor is it covered under warranty.
